The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine (CU SDM) is pleased to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2024-2027 for inspiring, imagining, and impacting teaching and learning schoolwide through continuous innovation.
Our students thrive because our faculty are dedicated to learning, passionate about teaching and enthusiastic about leading the next generation of dentists. Students have shared that they are inspired by faculty who open their minds to dental specialties, technology and treatment plans they may not have considered on their own. Our students learn from a unique curriculum and gain invaluable experience in dental clinics around the state as part of their training. SDM leadership is dedicated to providing an inclusive, state-of-the art learning environment where all students are set up for success, in the classroom and beyond.
Whether it’s craniofacial research, 3D-printed dentures, or patient avatars—the SDM empowers students to think through treatment plans in non-traditional classroom and clinical settings. Faculty help students navigate the many roles they will play as oral healthcare providers and learn how to improve outcomes for their patients. The school’s Dental Advanced Simulation Hub, with 120 unique patient avatars, gives students experience with a range of scenarios within the complexities of running a dental practice. Healthcare requires a trusted partnership with the patient. Students leave the SDM with the confidence to be exceptional providers.
As future healthcare providers, our students have a pivotal role when it comes to getting involved with their community. In the fourth year of the DDS program, students provide care throughout our Colorado communities in the Advanced Clinical Training and Service program. They also have the opportunity to travel abroad to Brazil or Honduras to explore opportunities beyond our borders. Our faculty are recognized nationally and globally for their endeavors in research and technology.
“Healthcare is a partnership between patients and providers. Technology facilitates that partnership.”
