- Aim: To establish two new postdoctoral training programs - Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) and the first and only Dental Public Health (DPH) residency with a dedicated rural track in the country. These programs are designed to address gaps in dental education and oral healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable populations in rural areas in New Hampshire. The goal is to strengthen the dental workforce and healthcare delivery systems in the state. Collaborators include HSDM, the New Hampshire-Vermont Bi-State Primary Care Association, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and local Federally Qualified Health Centers, working together to create innovative models for improving healthcare delivery and dental care access.

HSDM. 2022 – June 2024
The primary objective of this project is to conduct a scoping review of original research. This review aims to comprehensively examine and synthesize current national and international evidence and practices. Additionally, it seeks to identify any existing gaps pertinent to the effectiveness of preventive oral health practices in reducing dental caries and cariogenic bacteria, particularly focusing on diverse healthcare settings. The central research and review question guiding this endeavor is: What types of behavioral and educational programs and interventions support the efficacy of preventive oral health practices in reducing dental caries and cariogenic bacteria?
